The best way to check is to have your repair shop drain the fluid. Check for the following:
* 95% of the time these signs will indicate if the transfer case is bad.
- Is there any fluid?*
- Does the fluid smell burnt?*
- Is the fluid silvery in color?*
- Are there metal pieces in the fluid?*
If you do not buy from us:
- Choose a business that really knows transfer cases. Talk is cheap from the shop but expensive for the customer.
- Make sure they replace all bearings, seals, fork pads and chains. Be sure they use Morse chains.
